On Thursday, March 13th, 20000 Leagues successfully held the first workshop of the Small School of Marine Biodiversity at Centar za mlade Zadar, co-organized by Društvo 20,000 milja and Udruga Aurelia.
The workshop, conducted as part of the SeaTecHub project and the Kids Think BLUE initiative, offered children a fun and educational experience, exploring the idea that the sea is not just water — it is a home to thousands of interconnected living beings. 🌊🪼
What Did We Do?
✅ Discussion and Visual Exploration
Through images and ocean sounds, children discovered the incredible variety of life hidden beneath the waves.
✅ Game: “Guess Who I Am?”
Students imitated marine animals through pantomime — transforming into fish, crabs, dolphins, and octopuses — bringing the underwater world to life with imagination and play.
✅ Experiment: “How Do Waves Form?”
Using water and straws, children learned how the wind creates waves, the role of currents, and discovered the importance of the main winds blowing over the Adriatic Sea.
✅ Creative Workshop: “My Ocean Story”
Each child imagined and drew their own magical marine worlds, expressing creativity and love for the sea. 🎨
What Did We Learn?
🔹 All oceans are interconnected — together they form one vast global ecosystem. (#OneOcean)
🔹 The sea is home to diverse creatures, from tiny plankton to magnificent whales.
🔹 Waves are not only beautiful but also essential for marine life and the circulation of matter.
🔹 The Adriatic Sea is a special part of this global ocean, rich in unique marine species.
