On Thursday, May 8th, 20000 Leagues held another exciting workshop of the Small School of Marine Biodiversity at @centarzamladezadar, this time as part of the Science Festival! π
Young explorers discovered why we talk about food webs instead of food chains β because marine ecosystems are complex and interconnected, just like a real web! πΈπ‘
We started with the foundation of nearly every marine food web β plankton! The kids learned how plankton is studied, why planktonic organisms are considered the food of our food, and how they are collected using plankton nets, pumps, and other tools. π§π
We also explored the different kinds of nets humans use in the sea β from fishing nets to mussel-growing structures called pergolars. π¦ͺ
π² The highlight of the day? A lively game of memory cards, where siblings and friends went head-to-head in friendly competition. Laughter, learning, and a touch of rivalry β the perfect mix! ππ
We also had an important conversation about plastic in the ocean β and why itβs crucial that plastic waste does not end up in the food web. It simply doesnβt belong there. π«π
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us, and especially to our little marine scientists for their curiosity and the joyful atmosphere they created! π
π Next Workshop Announcement!
π See you again on June 5th, when weβll dive into the magical world of nudibranchs and their dazzling colors! πβ¨
