SeaTecHub at the Heart of Mediterranean Climate Dialogue

On Monday, 6 October 2025, AKTI Project and Research Centre presented the SeaTecHub project at the high-level event “Climate Crisis in the Mediterranean: Joint Actions of Greece and Cyprus”, held at the House of Cyprus in Athens.

Connecting climate, sea, cities, and culture

The event brought together experts, policymakers, and key stakeholders from Greece and Cyprus to explore how the climate crisis affects:

  • the marine and terrestrial environment,

  • urban development and coastal areas, and

  • the cultural heritage of the Mediterranean region.

Beyond the discussions, the event provided a valuable space for networking, visibility, and exchange, strengthening ties between organisations and initiatives working on climate and sustainability.

SeaTecHub as a concrete example of Mediterranean cooperation 🌊

During the event, AKTI presented SeaTecHub as a practical and innovative example of how Mediterranean countries can collaborate to:

  • tackle climate-related challenges in the blue economy,

  • develop and test innovative technologies for a healthy and productive sea, and

  • link research, policy, and practice across borders.

The presentation highlighted how SeaTecHub:

  • supports cross-border cooperation between Cyprus and Croatia,

  • contributes to regional policy priorities on climate and the marine environment, and

  • promotes sustainable, technology-driven solutions in the blue sector.

Increasing visibility and impact for SeaTecHub 💡

By showcasing SeaTecHub in this binational Greek–Cypriot forum, AKTI helped to:

  • boost the project’s visibility among influential stakeholders,

  • emphasise its relevance to climate and environmental policies in the Mediterranean, and

  • open up new opportunities for collaboration and uptake of project results.

SeaTecHub’s presence at the event once again underlined the importance of joint Mediterranean action in facing the climate crisis—through knowledge sharing, innovation, and partnerships that cross borders and sectors.
