SeaTecHub proudly supported the 16th Breaking the Surface (BtS) event, held in Biograd na Moru, Croatia, from September 29 to October 6, 2024. This prestigious international, interdisciplinary field workshop focused on maritime robotics and its applications, bringing together experts, researchers, businesses, and students from diverse fields such as maritime robotics, marine biology, maritime archaeology, maritime security, and marine geology.
Over the course of 7 exciting days, around 200 participants from more than 20 countries engaged in insightful lectures, challenging discussions, hands-on tutorials, and social events. Cutting-edge developments in maritime robotics and underwater systems were explored, with field demonstrations offering invaluable practical experience with the latest technological advancements.
The event also hosted the SeaTecHub consortium meeting, where the project’s progress and future objectives were discussed. Special thanks go to Lydia Papadaki, a scientific associate from ATHENA Research Center and AE4RIA, led by Prof. Phoebe Koundouri, who is also an advisory board member of the SeaTecHub project. Lydia presented the Multi-Actor Forums to Advance a Sustainable Blue Economy, contributing valuable insights to the event’s interdisciplinary approach.
Cyprus Marine and Maritime Institute (CMMI) also announced that it will host the next Breaking the Surface event in Cyprus for the very first time in 2025!
We look forward to continuing our collaboration with leading experts and fostering innovation in maritime robotics and ocean sustainability.
